CLIENT: SOUTHWEST WILDLIFE + MCPRD
LOCATION: MCDOWEL REGIONAL PARK
SIZE: 40 ACRE SITE
The Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center (SWCC) is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing native wildlife, while providing sanctuary for animals that cannot be released back into the wild. Their mission emphasizes the preservation of wildlife and their natural habitats through education, rehabilitation, and the promotion of harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife.
This mission aligns seamlessly with mrt Design's commitment to creating sustainable, environmentally conscious designs that harmonize with their surroundings. Both organizations prioritize the preservation of natural landscapes and the promotion of environmental stewardship.
In designing this site for SWCC, mrt Design focused on minimizing environmental impact, preserving native flora and fauna, and creating educational spaces that foster a deeper understanding of wildlife conservation. This approach ensures that the built environment supports SWCC's mission and enhances the experience for visitors, staff, and the wildlife in their care.
By integrating sustainable design principles with SWCC's conservation goals, mrt Design aims to create facilities that not only serve functional needs but also inspire and educate the community about the importance of protecting Arizona's native wildlife and their habitats.
